Introducing the Talented Artisan, Connor Poovey
Share
At Bespoke House, we are always thrilled to introduce you to new and exciting artists from the First Coast. Today, we are proud to showcase the talented mixed media artist, Connor Poovey.
Connor draws inspiration from a range of sources, including wildlife, nature, water, zoos, graffiti, street art, conservation, illustration, and vibrant colors. His passion for art began at an early age, as it was the way he connected with the world. As an introvert, Connor often felt on the outside of social situations, but art gave him a focus and allowed him to create his own little world. Over time, he gained confidence and even made friends through his art.
Connor's experimentation with different techniques, including painting, drawing, sculpture building, printmaking, and graffiti, has given him a unique perspective on the world of art. His exposure to the hidden world of street art, where remnants of civilization are now dominated by nature, has been particularly inspiring. After earning his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, Connor continues to explore the hidden worlds that nature and art can illuminate.
When asked about his favorite part of the creative process, Connor cites the conception. Each idea comes with a rush of endorphins, hopes, and desires. He loves creating the work and standing before it, but his biggest drive is always "that next piece."
Currently, Connor is exploring what Jacksonville has to offer and is excited to be a part of Bespoke House's Mythological Open House event. As a visitor, he is eager to meet other artists and see where his journey takes him.
Connor's advice for aspiring First Coast Artisans is simple: make the work that inspires you, and your audience will find you.
